My name is Sierah Catherine Joughin, "Ce" for short. I was born February 11, 1996 in Sylvania, Ohio. I graduated from Evergreen High School in 2014 and was getting ready to return to the University of Toledo for my junior year in the College of Business. I was kidnapped while riding my bike on July 19, 2016 by an individual in my community who is a repeat violent offender. I was not his first victim. He was arrested in 1990 for abduction and received a plea deal for 10 years in prison which he only served three. This repeat violent offender lived just a few miles from Evergreen Schools. My kidnapping and murder devastated my family, my friends and my community. My death and this violent act do not define my life. I was robbed of fulfilling my life on earth because of someones violent act and a system that failed me. My dreams for the future are different now than they were before. My dream is that this does not happen to another person; to be robbed of your hopes and dreams. My passion now, as well as my family's, is that we all work together to change the current system.
